What a weekend. We got about two inches of snow on Friday and the cold front (after several days of 50-60 degree weather) made us want to stay inside all weekend. We did venture out to hang up our new bird feeder and I snuck in a little me time at a bookshop downtown. I did come away with the first book in the Crescent City series by Sarah J Maas that I’ve had on my TBR for years at this point.
I’m currently in the middle of the audiobook “Remarkably Bright Creatures” which is book number 12 for the year. I managed 65 in 2023 and am on track to surpass that if I keep up this pace. Depends on how many 800+ page Sarah J Maas/Brandon Sanderson books make it onto my list. I’ve really been trying to habit switch to spend less of my time on my phone, and more with a book after Cal goes to bed. Amazing book stores and a nightstand full of books I’m excited about definitely help make that happen.
I am so grateful. This age is so much fun and we love showing him the joys of this life (time with family and friends, yummy food, adventures, etc) and getting as much fresh air as possible while it’s so nice out.
Here are some of my favorite things he’s said lately:
“You all done mama?” while waiting for me to finish straightening my hair before a two year old birthday party.
“Oh no, it’s the Mr Bill Show!”
“Willow, no ma’am.”
“Happy Birthday!!” Each day he has been deciding who’s birthday he wants to celebrate that day. This weekend was Aunt Ellie and Mama. 😏
When he builds with magnatiles: “That’s a big how-er (tower)!”
A sweet weekend that will keep my heart filled up for the whole week. ❤️
We had the sweetest Easter, the first one where Callahan was walking and understood that he was looking for Easter eggs. Daycare was closed on Good Friday, so Callahan and I went into STL so that my parents could watch him while I worked remotely. They planned a really sweet day of dying eggs (with cool whip, no less), playing outside, and going to a family fish fry. We took advantage of the absolutely beautiful weather with a few walks and lots of bubbles. I had purchased a kindle a few weeks prior and it finally came in the mail on Easter Day (why?!) but I was excited to open it up and start downloading books from the library and Kindle Unlimited. Holidays and weekends in general are just our favorite around here. So thankful for a little extra time with family and spring weather.
We had a blast celebrating Eric and Ellie! We got into St. Louis on Friday to kick off the weekend with the rehearsal dinner. We practiced walking in and then headed over to Stony River for a delicious dinner. The next morning, we got hair and make-up done at one of the houses near The Inn at St. Albans. The entire venue was a dream and there was no exception for the locations where we got ready.
It was the perfect day celebrating with Ellie, preparing, and reconnecting with the other bridesmaids that I had spent time with during the bachelorette party this summer. We started taking photos around 2pm and then the ceremony started at 4pm. The ceremony was lovely and included so many things that made it “them”. Callahan wore a sweet dress shirt, vest, tie, and fancy pants – it had to be his most handsome outfit to date.
Callahan barely made it through dinner – fell asleep on his Papa just as dancing got started. Denise and Scott were MVPs making sure Callahan got fed and took him home to go to bed. I am so grateful. We danced the night away with the band and then they had a sparkler exit!
Such a sweet weekend and we couldn’t be more happy for them both, and our families!
I am twenty-three weeks pregnant and feeling good. I’m currently only fitting into the maternity clothes I’ve been buying over the past couple weeks and the bump is starting to really pop out.
We are loving the Dispo App lately. Kevin and I are both working on cutting down our social media time, but both enjoy taking photos and documenting our daily lives. I love the way that this app filters photos and makes you wait for them to “develop”.
I ate the best crostinis of my life at Pappo’s.
We got our rocking chair delivered, thanks to my parents! Still a few items to move out of the room, but we’re making progress. More to come soon on the nursery!
The weather was the absolute best and we definitely enjoyed lots of time outside.
